"Ube" powder for desserts.
1 pack ube powder (115 g), 1/2 cup sugar, 3/4 cup evaporated milk, 1 tsp butter/margarine, 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup condensed milk a few drops of vanilla flavor and color as desired. Mix all ingredients except butter/margarine and vanilla. Cook over slow fire (low heat) until mixture becomes thick and the desired consistency is achieved. Placed on lightly greased (w/ margarine or butter) molder. You can also add cheese if desired.
You can spread Ube Halaya on cakes, pastries, bread as filling or spread. It can be served chilled as dessert.
Powdered purple yam (Dioscorea alata).
